Discover Patrick County’s thriving art scene this August. Explore open studios, festivals, The Crooked Road, and more. Join one of our weekly events like the Willis Gap Jam, Tuesday Music at The Coffee Break, and Open Studio at Caliope: Circus of the Arts. Visit one of our many farmers’ markets to find handmade goods like birdhouses, fiber arts, prints, and more. If you love crafty home decor and handmade goods you’ll love local stores like The Hatteras Pearl and Quilted Colors in Stuart. Head over to the Mayberry Trading Post, Poppy’s, The Concord Corner Store, Poor Farmers Market, or Poor Farmers Farm in Meadows of Dan for even more artisan goods. While exploring, look out for the murals, LOVEworks, and Trail H.A.N.D.S. scattered throughout the county.

Pickle & Ash Murals

From farm-to-table food to amazing art, Pickle & Ash has it all. Outside you’ll find their newly completed mural Lady Appalachia: of the Pines, the second in artist Jon Murrill’s Lady Appalachia series. Inside you’ll find a collection of murals created by members of Bull Mountain Arts. The collection is titled Stories of Appalachia and each piece celebrates the folklore, heritage, legends, superstitions, traditions, and culture of the region.

The Cherry Orchard Theatre

The Cherry Orchard Theatre consists of a small, outdoor stage and a group of local artists who write and perform their work. The theatre was founded in 1999 by Frank Levering, owner of Levering Orchard in Ararat. Shows are performed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starting at 7pm. All Sunday shows are performed in the packhouse. Be sure to bring lawn chairs and snacks!

The Meadows of Dan Folk Fair

Head over to Meadows of Dan on August 17th for the 20th annual Meadows of Dan Folk Fair. Enjoy live music, food, vendors, and more. This is a free event that the whole family will enjoy. Free parking and shuttles will be available. The Folk Fair will run from 10am-4pm.

Villa Appalaccia: Music at the Villa

If you’re looking for Italian-inspired wines, beautiful views, and live music then Villa Appalaccia is the place for you. Located between Mileposts 170 and 171 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, this kid and pet-friendly winery is a must-stop for wine lovers. As a bonus, Villa Appalaccia is only five minutes from Chateau Morrisette.

Chateau Morrisette: Music of the Courtyard Concert Series

Spend the day at Chateau Morrisette and enjoy some great music and great wines. This kid and dod-friendly winery offers a wide selection of dry and sweet wines. Chateau Morrisette is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, between Meadows of Dan and Floyd.

Gospel Music at Dominion Valley Park

If you’re looking for a weekend of fun and fellowship, check out Dominion Valley Park‘s Labor Day Gospel Music. Dominion Valley is a family-owned park founded in 1987, it carries on a strong tradition of sharing Gospel Music each Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend! There is no better way to close out the summer season than by sitting on the lawn with friends and listening to the sweet sounds of familiar hymns fill the air.

Front Porch Fest

Looking for a great, kid-friendly, festival? Head over to Spirithaven Farm for a weekend you won’t forget. Front Porch Fest is a celebration of art and community. What started as an idea among friends has turned into one of Southwest Virginia’s best small festivals. Hang out with new and old friends and listen to the best in live music from local talents and renowned artists. Proceeds from the festival go back into the community to assist those in need.
