Willis Gap Community Center

The Willis Gap Community Center Open Jam, 144 The Hollow Road, Ararat, VA 24053, has been jamming since around the 1990s.  Initially started by Otto and Nellie Hiatt in their home and then moved to the Community Center.

Open Jam is affiliated with The Crooked Road, Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, Patrick County Tourism, Patrick County Chamber of Commerce, and Virginia Tourism Corporation.

Open Jam

Every Friday night. Doors open at 6 pm.

Open to all skill levels.  Playing (Appalachian)  Old-time, Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel with (acoustic) instruments.  Director for order of the Jam Les Edgell. 

The kitchen opens at 6 pm with hotdogs, fresh slaw, chili, candies, chips, sodas, coffee, and bottled water.  Music and dancing begin at 7 pm and goes until 10 pm.  Come out and bring your family and friends for  Music, Food, Fellowship, Family Fun, 50/50 drawing, and southern hospitality at its bests.

Golden Oldies

The Willis Gap Community Center, Golden Oldies, (last Tuesday each month). The doors open at 6:00 p.m. with music at 7:00 p.m of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, Inviting all ages and skill levels. Fresh slaw/chili hotdogs—chips, candy, cakes, popcorn, sodas, coffee, and bottled water. Family-friendly. 50/50 drawing around 8:30 p.m. Contact info: (276 251 8548) (276 251 5436).
