Take a Hike: Fairy Stone State Park
967 Fairystone Lake Dr, Stuart, VA 24171
Start your day by exploring Fairy Stone State Park! The park features 10 miles of multi-use trails to explore. Hikers, bikers, and horseback riders alike traverse the steep steps of the 4.1-mile Little Falls Trail. The small stream suddenly takes a 20-foot drop and cascades into Little Mountain Falls, delighting day trippers with an incredible sight, cool waters to splash in, and a great backdrop for a photo.
Pack a picnic and then stay for a unique look at local history!
Corn Squeezin’ at Fairy Stone State Park
8:00 PM Park Amphitheater
Moonshine stills, revenuers, raids, good ‘ole boys (and girls), and more. See it all while laughing and learning about a special part of our local culture as Fairy Stone State Park presents the play “Corn Squeezins!” Learn more at www.virginiastateparks.gov.
Sunday: Pizza, Wine and Outdoor Exploration
Hot dogs may be the official food of the 4th of July, but pizza makes a good case for America’s Favorite Food. Luckily, you don’t have to choose. Celebrate America’s most popular food with a slice (or a whole pie!) of pizza. Go for a dip at DeHart pool or a relaxing hike at Fairy Stone for a full day of family fun.
Pizza Sunday: Villa Appalaccia Winery
752 Rock Castle Gorge Rd, Floyd, VA 24091
12:30 pm-4:30 pm
Stop by Villa Appalaccia Winery for Pizza Sunday! The winery will be serving up their popular wood-fired pizzas from noon until closing.
We welcome back our full-time friend and partial neighbor, Stella Trudel. Stella is a SW Virginia and Greater Austin, Texas based singer songwriter who tailors her show to any stage with clear vocals, original, story based lyrics, intricate guitar and weaving rhythms that combine into something truly unique. This inspired talent brings to you an irresistible mix of acoustic tunes that are soulful and fun. You’ll be glad you stopped to listen!
